xTool F2 Ultra UV — Engraves Inside Glass With No Burning and No Scorched Edges

Ordinary laser machines engrave with heat, so they leave burnt edges on glass, acrylic and plastic and need polishing afterwards. The 355 nm ultraviolet laser in the xTool F2 Ultra UV works instead by cold processing: it breaks the bonds of the material rather than melting it, so the piece comes out clean the first time. And with a dedicated lens it can engrave inside the block of glass itself, to an accuracy of 0.001 mm — a hundred times finer than a hair.

FAQs

Does it run on our 220 V power?
Yes. It accepts 110 to 240 V, so you plug it in directly with no transformer. It arrives with a US plug, so a simple plug adapter is all it takes to run it on a Gulf outlet.

What is the difference between it and a fiber or CO2 laser?
Fiber and CO2 engrave with heat, so they burn the edges of glass and acrylic. UV works cold, so the engraving comes out clean with no yellowing and no polishing afterwards — and that is what makes it the choice for glass and plastic in particular.

Does it engrave metal?
It does work on metal, but its strongest field is non-metal: glass, acrylic, plastic and ceramic. If your main work is on metal, the F2 Ultra with the MOPA laser is the better fit.

What is engraving inside glass good for?
